Q&A with Kelly Pruitt

Tell us a little about you, where you live, children, occupation, etc.

I'm 36 years old, wife to a hard-working restaurateur, mom of 2 boys (ages 9 and 5). We live in East Nashville. I work part time in early childhood education, and I'm also a wellness advocate, educating people on essential oils and transitioning to a more natural lifestyle.

Describe your nutrition before starting the Burn Fat and Feast program.

Prior to the program, I believed I had a good handle on what and how much I needed to be eating, but I just hadn't committed to doing it. Also, our lifestyle was (and still is) very restaurant heavy, as we are often out supporting our local industry friends. This mentality and lifestyle combo resulted in a lot of extra weight on my body.

Describe your fitness routine before starting the Burn Fat and Feast program.

I had some classes at the Y that I was taking, and really enjoyed, but it was all cardio heavy. My strength training was pretty low. I worked out 3-5 times a week.

What made you decide to join this program?

Seeing Sarah talk about it online and watching her grow the program, I decided I'd like to give it a try. I figured it couldn't hurt me!

How do you feel now that you have graduated?

In one word: educated! I learned so much about nutrition through this program. I thought I knew what I needed to be doing, but I discovered that I really had a lot to learn about what my body needs and doesn't need.

Share with us 2 successes, things you learned or what your biggest takeaways were upon completion.

I learned that my body really uses food as fuel, and anything beyond that is unnecessary. Of course our food should taste good, but it is possible for food to taste good and sustain you and fuel you. I also learned that a major part of my battle with weight has been a mental game for me - learning to listen to my body and be mindful of what goes into and when has been a game changer for me.

Kelly, thanks again for participating in the Burn Fat & Feast and Elite programs.IMG_4165
