Q&A with Jill Mellon

Tell us a little about you, where you live, children, occupation, etc.

My name is Jill Mellon. I am a stay at home mom with an amazing, supportive husband and 2 kiddos – A 7 year-old daughter, Reece and 4 year-old son, Easton.  We moved to Arrington, TN almost 3 years ago and absolutely love it! Prior to living in TN, we lived in Chicago and Ohio where I grew up, went to college and met my husband, Scott.

Describe your nutrition before starting the Burn Fat and Feast program.

I have always considered myself to be a pretty healthy eater (with the exception of football season and tailgating) and my candy addiction (Skittles, Twizzlers, Laffy Taffy, etc). Since having kids, I had been hovering around the same weight (give or take 5 pounds) for a few years. After holidays or down eating times, I’d see that higher number on the scale and I work like a maniac to bring it back down until the next big holiday season. Same cycle year in and year out.

Describe your fitness routine before starting the Burn Fat and Feast program.

I have always exercised. I grew up playing sports and thought that I had to be in great “cardio” shape. So, ever since I was in high school and into my 30s, I would spend at least an hour each day running or doing the elliptical with little focus on weight training or other types of exercises.

What made you decide to join this program?

I met Sarah at the YMCA where she taught a few of my favorite classes. Sarah’s classes are always so fun, she has an abundance of energy, seemed knowledgeable and was very fit herself. I told her I was looking to get more lean since I tend to bulk up quickly. She explained that with a combination of nutrition, intermittent fasting and a variety of workouts that include more strength training, I could get leaner. However, the main reason for joining was the perfect amount of accountability the program offers. In fact, I love the accountability, group discussion and camaraderie so much that I completed the first round of BFF,  Elite for the first time and now doing Elite for the second time. I’m definitely drinking the BFF Kool-Aid. 🙂

How do you feel now that you have graduated?

I feel great! Sarah has taught me a different way of eating and spent extra time to individually customize my nutrition plan to fit my lifestyle francepharmacie.fr. I love the alternating of low carb and regular macro days. I’m not left feeling unsatisfied or hungry, which is unusual for me. Obviously, the feast day is amazing!  Knowing that I can indulge once a week, makes it all doable and easier to succeed since I know a treat is coming. My favorite thing about this program is that it is a true lifestyle change, not a typical short term diet.

This program definitely works. I weigh less now than I did before kids and have lost inches all over my body. For once, I was able to strengthen and build muscle without getting bulky.

Share with us 2 successes, things you learned or what your biggest takeaways were upon completion.

My biggest takeaway from the program is the pairing of nutrition with specific types of workouts. I have learned so much about how to make the two work together, while exercising less. Being a cardio fanatic, this program has truly helped me.

Secondly, I learned a lot about intermittent fasting, benefits, and different lengths of fasts and why it works. Fasting was daunting for me at first as I don’t like to miss meals. However, as my body has adjusted to it, I actually look forward to the shorter fasts.

Jill, thanks again for participating in the Burn Fat & Feast and Elite programs
