There are plenty of quick fix diet plans out there to get the weight off nice and easy, but it’s a whole new hurdle keeping it off. Today we are going to discuss 3 simple steps to putting a STOP to yo-yo dieting one and for all!

Did you know that at least 90% of all women have experienced weight loss only to regain it again…typically more than they started with.  Why is this?  A few reasons you may not have been able to keep the weight off long term is:
  1. Extreme calorie deprivation
  2. Lost weight too fast
  3. Lack of community (like minded people)
So what can you do today and moving forward that will help you stop the yo-yo cycle and finally lose what you want and also maintain it for years to come?

1. Commit to a nutrition plan you can live year round

Depriving yourself of your favorite food and drinks will only lead you to binging on those very things after just a short period of time.  Overly-restrictive diets can lead to some weight loss, but it can also slower your metabolism which makes it harder to reach your weight loss goals in the long run.  What about the social aspect of deprivation?  We are meant to celebrate and be joyful.  We want to enjoy those treats at birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and even those much needed vacations.  Who wants to feel like they aren’t allowed to eat or drink anything around them?  NOT ME!  The Burn Fat & FEAST program teaches you how to manipulate your macronutrients throughout the week so that you can enjoy your social events without the guilt! In essence you CAN have your cake and eat it too!

2. Focus on slower weight loss -Slow and steady wins the race every time.

When you focus on rapid weight loss, you are in fact losing weight and NOT losing fat.  Losing fat is actually your ultimate goal. Fast weight loss means you are losing water, some muscle, and even possibly bone mass.  The importance of fat loss is extremely important for your long term health.  You lose muscle mass as you age and higher muscle mass equals higher metabolism which in turn helps you burn more calories at rest every day.  Plus when you lose weight quickly, you are more than likely going to put the weight back on.  Go SLOW!  Follow the first rule and commit to a nutrition plan that you can follow year round.

3. Find your tribe!

A supportive community is essential for a sustainable lifestyle.  A community is a group of people with something in common. Strong communities are critical because they’re often an important source of social connection and a sense of belonging. Participating in a community bonded by attitudes, values, and goals is an essential ingredient to enjoying a fulfilling life. Studies prove that when you do not have a strong supportive community surrounding you, you are at a higher risk for increased stress, chronic disease, and mental health issues. Ultimately, communities give people a supportive group to help them cope with difficult challenges, band together to solve problems, and celebrate life’s lighter moments.

So it’s time to get off the yo-yo, implement these strategies to live your most full and happy life!
